Riot’s questionable change directly reduces the power of T1’s familiar playstyle
For those who regularly follow T1 or watch their matches, it’s clear that a very characteristic playstyle of T1 is their attempt to dominate Baron, even when they are at a disadvantage or need to snowball. However, T1’s playstyle is at risk of disappearing in the new season due to Riot’s intervention.

Specifically, in a recent update, Riot may change the Jungle Monster mechanics as they plan to introduce an additional element into the game. A new monster named Atakhan will appear between the 15th and 25th minute. Meanwhile, the Baron buff will be pushed back to start from the 25th minute. Notably, Atakhan in its Voracious form can provide players with resurrection capabilities for a limited time.

Riot’s new moves seem aimed at prolonging games to a certain duration (neither too long nor too short), enhancing in-game skirmishes, and forcing teams to accelerate the pace of the game before Atakhan appears.
However, according to the community, the Baron-centric playstyle before the 20-minute mark is almost a hallmark of T1. Therefore, this “nerf” could mean that T1 will have to reconsider their strategies. They will need to push harder from the laning phase, especially when facing strong opponents that are equal to or stronger than T1.

The community is also ‘worried’ for T1
On X (formerly Twitter), G2 Esports also recognizes that this adjustment significantly impacts T1. The defending champion of the 2024 World Championship does not rely on Baron. However, clearly, if this buff is delayed until the 25th minute, with Atakhan present, it will force T1 to be more cautious in skirmishes as well as from the laning phase.

But as a title-contending team, T1 must address these issues as a necessity. Moreover, other mechanisms like Fearless Draft (currently being tested) or 2 final defensive turrets that can resurrect (which may also be included in the Pre-Season 2025 update) are additional factors that T1 and all other teams must carefully consider.
