On the morning of September 29 (Vietnam time), Riot released the MV Burn It All Down – the theme song for this year’s Worlds 2021. Immediately, the song became the most discussed topic in the League of Legends community worldwide. Alongside individual opinions on the 2021 MV, many fans compared Burn It All Down with songs that are deeply rooted in League of Legends history, such as RISE, Warriors…
The overwhelming majority of opinions agree that the animation and effects of Burn It All Down are “top-notch,” if not better than previous MVs in terms of grandeur and special effects that Riot has invested in. Notably, featuring Faker with the title “The Unkillable Legend” at the start of the MV is seen as a very clever move by Riot, showing absolute respect for the icon of the League of Legends scene. At the same time, Faker’s image symbolizes a benchmark that future players must surpass to reach greatness.
The animation is truly amazing.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I focused more on the animation effects than the song.
The animation is top-tier, and Jhin with blonde hair or Kai’Sa as a male is also impressive.
Clearly, the animation effects are fantastic.
However, many opinions suggest that Riot invested too much in the effects, overlooking aspects that could have made the MV more engaging, such as the beat and lyrics of the song… Especially towards the end of the clip, the rapid-fire effects and fast tempo left some viewers confused, unable to appreciate the MV’s uniqueness anymore.
The song is catchy, but I feel RISE has more distinctiveness and gets me more hyped every time I listen to it. But ultimately, it depends on individual perception. Legends Never Die is also a great song.
I think this song is stimulating, but RISE is in a different league, matched only by Warriors. Songs like Phoenix are surprising but don’t compare.
RISE itself is stimulating, but I think this song (Burn It All Down) will be more visual (not to say that RISE’s animation effects are bad), the animation team has outdone themselves with the battle scenes and camera movements, similar to Take Over.
The animation is truly amazing, but I don’t know if I’m getting older, but I found it really hard to follow the last 40 seconds of the MV.
Edit 1: Upon rewatching, it actually seems a bit bad.
Edit 2: Did they speed up the final sequence of effects in the MV to match the song’s timing?
On the other hand, some netizens are curious about the absence of many notable names, perhaps most notably the absence of Doinb in the MV. Additionally, the choice of main characters by Riot seems to lack “Worlds essence” as aside from ShowMaker, the other two characters (Rekkles and JackeyLove) have no spots in this year’s Worlds. Meanwhile, players attending this tournament only make brief appearances or show up for a few seconds (Chovy, Viper, Lwx…). As for Faker, he only appears at the beginning of the MV in an electronic poster, with no further scenes in the MV.
Where are Faker, Doinb, Chovy, MAD Lions, NA region, and others? Because this is the MV of ShowMaker against the LPL region… It lacks the “Worlds essence” like RISE or Ignite. And no xPeke, Toyz, MadLife, Faker, Uzi…
Some viewers pointed out that the content of the MV revolves around ShowMaker’s journey to surpass the legend Faker, so it makes sense that Faker might not be included, but clearly, Riot is somewhat “undervaluing” the significance of the “Demon King” when he is only given a cameo in the form of an electronic poster in the MV.
They couldn’t include Faker in any battles because he is still an active player participating in this Worlds, but the lack of respect is evident.
Moreover, on a slightly “spiritual” note, according to Hysterics – caster for the English LPL channel, this year’s song coincidentally has a theme related to fire (similar to 2019) and notably, FunPlus Phoenix has returned to Worlds.
Another Worlds theme song related to fire, FPX has returned to Worlds. The script is written.
With the investment in this MV from Riot, fans are even more eager for the official start of Worlds 2021. Many fans also hope that ShowMaker will indeed, as depicted in the MV, become the next successor to the legend Faker, becoming the new icon of the League of Legends scene.
