In the early development diary videos of League of Legends, Riot Games asserted that every major event in the game always comes with a special game mode. In the Chaos God event, we had ARURF, and most recently, the event Galaxy featured All For One as the applied mode. As the Galaxy event approaches its conclusion, it is natural to expect the next event and special game mode.

If you go to the Hextech crafting interface and click on the Galaxy relic, you can see that its expiration date is May 12, which could be the last day of this event. After that, we will have a completely new event, likely directly related to the new Ultimate Weapon skin line that has been teased earlier.

Of course, along with the new event will be the next special game mode for League of Legends, and just a few hours ago, Riot GlMarsi – a member of the game mode design team at Riot Games – announced that URF has officially returned. A funny thing is that when putting URF on the PBE server, they “forgot” to change the name to URF (the mode where champions can be freely selected), instead, it was still labeled ARURF (random champions). Riot GlMarsi confirmed on Twitter that the team will fix the display name as soon as possible.

With this new information, we can speculate that the next big event for League of Legends will likely be the Ultimate Weapon 2020, and during this time, the URF mode will be its special gamemode. The update time will probably be when patch 10.9 ends and League of Legends moves to patch 10.10.
