Throughout the history of League of Legends, there have been many game modes released by Riot Games. Riot created them to provide players with various entertainment options, refresh their League of Legends experience, and help them stay engaged with the game longer. Several game modes like ARAM, URF, and Nexus Blitz have left a deep impression and are beloved by many players.

However, in the development of game modes, Riot has also made some controversial decisions. In fact, the Magma Chamber map (or Lava Chamber) with the 2v2 mode is considered one of the biggest “teases” in League of Legends history.
Specifically, at the 2013 All-Star event, the Magma Chamber map was introduced and became a battleground for many stars at that time. The success of this event led League of Legends players to believe that this game mode would debut on the official server. However, all Riot did was remain silent and quietly canceled it, turning it into the Capture the Flag mode later on.

Just when it seemed that the Magma Chamber map would be forgotten forever, a Riot character recently took action to bring it back. Specifically, a veteran League of Legends player recently complained on Twitter (now X) that the ARAM experience had become somewhat dull due to the unchanged map. This post also mentioned old maps (including Magma Chamber) that Riot could use to refresh the ARAM mode.

After that, a Riot employee named Drew Levin unexpectedly appeared and expressed agreement with this opinion. Drew later revealed that he and the team at Riot had taken note of the community’s feedback and would consider “reviving” this map in the future. Of course, this is still just a plan from Riot, and they have not announced a specific time for the return of the Magma Chamber map.

It is important to know that after many years of development, the idea for the 2v2 mode has been transferred to the Arena. Therefore, it is highly likely that Riot can only utilize the “hellish” map of Magma Chamber. It is very possible that they will use that terrain to change the appearance of ARAM at a future event.

In conclusion, with the insights shared by the Riot employee, the community is aware that they have some plans to bring the Magma Chamber map back in the future. It would be fantastic if Riot does this while introducing new champions closely related to this “fiery” land.
