Early this morning (Vietnam time), Riot Games released a lengthy video discussing the new content coming to Teamfight Tactics in the near future. Alongside events related to the Lunar New Year, Riot also revealed a plethora of important information about Set 6.5, including the removal of certain traits and the introduction of new champions.

First, regarding the removed traits, Empires and Academies are the traits on Riot Games’ chopping block. As previously predicted, Riot often removes traits that provide buffs for a single carry in mid-season updates, so the removal of Empires is understandable. As for the Academy trait, its illogical design makes it a fitting candidate for elimination from Teamfight Tactics Set 6.5.

Next, two new traits have been announced: Hextech and Elegant. The Hextech trait will have the effect of champions creating a shockwave from a technology core to generate shields. Besides providing shields, the Hextech trait may also grant attack bonuses such as increased attack speed and AD. Additionally, this effect could be enhanced based on the number of technology cores the player has. Furthermore, Alistar has been introduced as making his debut with this trait.

Unlike Hextech, the Elegant trait has not been detailed extensively in terms of effects. We only know that this trait will feature champions like Brand and Draven. Additionally, champions such as Swain and Leona are likely to transition to the Elegant trait after their previous traits, Empires and Academies, are removed.
We will also welcome back champions like Gnar, Lucian, Sivir… Silco continues to be mentioned as the champion with the title “unique champion” of Teamfight Tactics and Riot has hinted that he will be a major opponent. It is very likely that due to the association with Shimmer, Silco will be a Chemtech champion in Teamfight Tactics.

Additionally, in the gameplay introduction video for Set 6.5, we can spot names like Jarvan IV, Sejuani, Corki, Kha’Zix, Syndra, Rek’Sai, Irelia. Furthermore, based on the upcoming Elegant trait, other champions like Master Yi, Zed, and LeBlanc also have a high chance of returning to Teamfight Tactics.

Of course, this is just a teaser from Riot Games. There are still many important details to come, such as changes to technology cores, detailed effects of the new traits, new champions… We may have to wait at least two more weeks until patch 12.3 officially launches.
