If you’ve been following the information about Teamfight Tactics Season 3 early on, the concept of Galaxies or Universes should no longer be unfamiliar. Essentially, this is an upgraded mechanic from the elemental map in Season 2; instead of just a few elemental tiles, in Season 3, the entire universe in the match will change and provide you with certain advantages when starting the game.

Although announced early when introducing Teamfight Tactics: Infinite Galaxies, it wasn’t until patch 10.7 that Riot Games introduced the Galaxy mechanic to the game. A few hours ago, the lead designer of “auto chess – Riot Mortdog” released a video explaining the patch and introducing us to the details of this mechanic, along with updates regarding the overpowered 5-cost champions like Aurelion Sol, Miss Fortune, and Gangplank.

First regarding the Galaxy mechanic, instead of having 5 as announced when launching patch 10.6, in the next patch we will only have 3 Galaxies: Neekoverse, Lilac Nebula, and Medium Legends Galaxy. Details:

Neekoverse: All players start with 2 Neeko’s Help.

Lilac Nebula: The first shared draft will consist entirely of 4-cost champions.

Medium Legends Galaxy: The Legend will have an additional 25 starting health and increased size.

The next change promises to alleviate the issue of too many 5-cost champions dominating by reducing their appearance rate. Specifically, at level 8, the appearance rate of 5-cost champions decreases from 7% to 6%. While it may seem like a small change, given the current situation where everyone is competing for Gangplank, this is quite a significant nerf to the strategy of leveling up to 8 early and rolling for 5-cost champions.

Riot Mortdog also noted that the situation where all champions in the shared draft hold one item will now decrease compared to the current state. The new rules regarding which items are prioritized to stay or return to the item pool will also be updated in patch 10.7; you can find more details HERE.

In the champion update section, changes to 1-4 cost champions are mostly unchanged from the stats updated on the PBE; you can find more details HERE. The Shadow and Sorcerer classes have also been reworked in a beneficial direction. For Shadow, the bonus damage stat has been removed; instead, these champions will grant flat AP and AD when they die. Sorcerers have removed the requirement of 4 champions, and now only 2 units are needed to activate the old 4-champion effect.

The most concerning aspect for players in this patch will undoubtedly be the 5-cost champions, who have been overwhelmingly powerful compared to others. In patch 10.7, this class of characters will be nerfed to some extent.

Aurelion Sol: Damage reduced from 120/175/750 to 100/150/750. Targets will now be completely random instead of being random among the opponent’s strong champions.

Gangplank: Maximum mana increased from 150 to 175, starting mana increased from 50 to 75. Skill damage at levels 1 and 2 star reduced from 650/850 to 450/600.

Miss Fortune: Base attack speed reduced from 1.1 to 1.0. Maximum mana increased from 150 to 175, starting mana increased from 50 to 75. Damage based on the opponent’s health at levels 1 and 2 star reduced from 70/90% to 60/80%.

Ekko: Skill damage at levels 1 and 2 star reduced from 250/450 to 225/400.

Lulu: Attack speed reduced from 0.85 to 0.8.

The 5-cost champion class is currently too dominant, so the nerf is quite understandable

The heaviest nerf likely belongs to Gangplank, as at 2 star, this champion deals less damage than the old 1 star level. Therefore, to make this unit effective, it must be in a suitable lineup or have plenty of mana items. The reduction in both appearance rates and direct power will likely cause 5-cost champions to have a significantly reduced impact in the upcoming patch 10.7. The strategy of everyone striving to reach level 8 and roll for Gangplank may soon become a thing of the past.
