After being called out by players for posting false information, League of Legends Project Director – Riot Mark Yetter apologized to the community today – March 1st. Furthermore, representatives from Riot Games also shared accurate information about the Mythic item system with players. According to these statements, many Mythic items for Mages, Marksmen, and Fighters are currently unbalanced, showing a very high purchase rate on certain champions.

Riot Mark Yetter: “An article about Mythic items will be released this coming Friday, but I wanted to share information about this group of items with everyone first. The incorrect information in the previous article was a regrettable mistake, and I sincerely apologize for that.
Below are the accurate figures after excluding information from the ARAM and URF modes. Overall, our goal for the Mythic items remains unchanged. In the future, the team will look for ways to buff items that are currently too weak and provide players with more choices. Items that are too strong and are used excessively by certain champion classes will also be nerfed in the future.
Interestingly, after the data changes, Physical Assassins are the champion class with the most balanced Mythic item system. Kha’Zix’s purchase rate of Draktharr’s Shadowcarver has dropped to 73.8%, so no Physical Assassin has surpassed our imbalance threshold.”

Essentially, all three Mythic items for Physical Assassins aim to enhance the assassination capability of this character class. The difference likely comes from the output damage stats and the usage situations. If you face champions with high durability, the Moonblade is the suitable item as it has an inherent effect that deals additional damage based on a percentage of health.
In cases where you need to burst damage quickly on a single target, the Duskblade is the best choice. Meanwhile, Draktharr’s Shadowcarver enhances mobility in fights with its stealth ability. Therefore, Physical Assassins can effectively utilize these items, and the difference in purchase rates of Mythic items is not too significant.

Meanwhile, for other roles, the Mythic items serve different purposes, so they only fit a few specific champions. The most notable are the Mythic items for Mages. We have Luden’s Tempest designed for wave pushing, Liandry’s Anguish for damage over time, while Everfrost provides additional crowd control.

This presents a significant challenge for Riot in finding ways to balance the Mythic item system. If they apply the model of Physical Assassin items (serving the same purpose but only differing in how damage is dealt), it may not suit certain champions. Simply reducing the stats of Mythic items will not resolve the problem thoroughly.
It can be said that this is an incredibly tricky problem that Riot has set for themselves with the aim of diversifying choices regarding Mythic items. Hopefully, Riot will find a solution to this issue in the future or at least not turn Mythic items into a form of “balance disaster”.
