It can be said that Teamfight Tactics is an extremely personal game, quite different from the 5v5 matches of League of Legends. In Teamfight Tactics, every action from buying units, leveling up, rolling… is directly decided by the players. Winning or losing depends entirely on the skill, luck, or judgment of the players. However, this may change in the future as Riot Games has teased us about a “team fight” mode.
In the upper left corner, we can see a Little Legend piloting a damaged spaceship. This may indicate that the player has lost and taken significant damage. Essentially, the Little Legend represents the player in Teamfight Tactics. When you lose a match and the Little Legend takes damage, it makes sense that its spaceship is damaged as well.
Next, we have the middle section with images such as the number of gold, and devices being doubled to repair the damaged spaceship (far right). In the rest of the image, we can see many units working together to attack and take down the opponent’s formation. Clearly, one player cannot double their gold alone; they need assistance from teammates. This is directly hinting at the “team fight” mode, where players will collaborate to achieve the ultimate victory.
Based on the images provided by Riot Games, we can partly guess how this “team fight” mode will operate. First, players will still play normally and may receive win/loss streaks depending on the units they possess. After a certain period, the game will match players into teams and help those in the same team create the strongest composition. Then the teams will compete against each other to find the winning team.
Another way that Riot could implement this mode is by learning from the 2v2v2v2 system of Auto Chess. This mode would allow players in the same team to “lend” units to their teammates and exchange items they currently own. This would help both players build the strongest team composition and win together.
By now, many players will be wondering about the release time of this mode. According to Riot Games, the special mode for the upcoming Season 5 will be Crazy Dice. Therefore, players will have to wait until Season 6 to have the opportunity to experience the “team fight” mode.
