Recently, the Mayor of Los Angeles – Mr. Eric Garcetti announced the honor of Riot Games – the company has recently donated 1.5 million USD (equivalent to over 35 billion VND) to non-profit organizations and relief funds in California to support COVID-19 prevention efforts.
Among the 1.5 million USD donated, the two co-founders of Riot Games – Marc Merill and Brandon Beck each contributed 500,000 USD. The remaining amount was contributed by the Riot staff working at the headquarters in the United States.

The donation will be divided between the Los Angeles Food Bank (400,000 USD) and the Mayor’s funds to support the relief efforts for coronavirus-infected patients (200,000 USD). These efforts include assistance for healthcare costs, childcare, and meal support for low-income individuals and the homeless. The remaining 900,000 USD will be donated to local non-profit organizations.
Currently, the United States is one of the regions heavily affected by the spread of COVID-19, and of course, the Esports tournament system here is not exempt from severe impacts.

The North America League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring 2020 has had to implement online competition formats since the end of March, and just recently, Riot North America also had to announce that the finals of the tournament will be held online. Meanwhile, all Riot Games staff in the North American branch have also been instructed to work from home since the beginning of the week.
