In 2023, Riot has released a number of skins as well as new champions and events for the League of Legends community. Recently, the Master of Spirits skin line added Samira to the group of champions with Ultimate skins and Viego to the Legendary group. In fact, Riot even launched the Spirit Arena event to promote this new skin line. Right after the Master of Spirits, the new Celestial skin line has also appeared in League of Legends.

These skins share the universe with Irelia the Celestial Blade, Jax the God Staff, and Talon the Legendary Blade. Notably, it’s clear once again that Riot is quite favorable towards the Chinese market – which provides one of the largest player bases for League of Legends. This is because Celestial themes are highly favored in the populous nation, spanning from literature to cinema. Moreover, these skins also boast high aesthetics along with special effects, which attract the attention of League of Legends players.

However, this time Riot has encountered quite a few issues in the design phase. First, there’s Zed, whose dual daggers were designed in a rather confusing way. Typically, when using a hand-mounted dagger, only the blade should be visible. Yet, Zed’s design includes the handle, making the daggers unreasonably long. According to some opinions, a hand-mounted dagger with the handle still attached would be incredibly cumbersome for the user.

But the most notable issue has to be Zeri from the Celestial line. Clearly, with a champion that is initially designed to use guns as weapons, Zeri does not truly fit within this skin line (which focuses on champions using primitive weapons or magic). Moreover, Zeri’s “spirit weapon” is a device that shoots out lightning, leading many to think of Celestial themes but with a humorous twist. Among them, characters traveling through time have modern weapons as well.

Currently, the new Celestial skin line is still receiving many unsatisfied reviews from players. Of course, they have not officially launched yet. However, in the past, Riot has rarely needed to make significant changes to skin designs, so players may need to get used to this new skin line if they intend to purchase it.
