Historically, Riot has always strived to address the issue of game ruining in League of Legends. These actions include “feeding”, leaving matches mid-game, or using vulgar language to attack each other among players. Generally, the problem of “game ruining” and toxicity exists everywhere, but with a global title like League of Legends, it becomes even more complex and difficult to resolve. Not to mention, players always find ways to “bend the rules”, and Riot’s regulations or tools seem to be at a loss.

However, recently, Riot has “aided” players by introducing the “Quick Surrender” mode, which was only being tested in the PBE version, directly into the ranked matches of League of Legends. For those who are unaware, the “Quick Surrender” mode does not require all members to vote or four votes (if one person has left the game) to surrender, but only one person needs to vote to surrender.

Therefore, it can be said that in a short period, many places have reported players rushing to “game ruin” with this new tool. This forced Riot to immediately lock the ranked mode when players simply feel dissatisfied about something, or feel unwilling to play, which can affect all other players, both on their team and the opponents.

According to the “bug saint” Vandiril, this issue had briefly appeared some time ago. However, at that time, the situation was not serious enough, so Riot left everything functioning normally. This time, the issue is more severe, and thus, Riot had to take emergency measures in a short time. Some players have suggested that Riot might need to reconsider the entire Quick Surrender mode. Among the popular MOBA titles today, it seems that League of Legends is the only one with significant issues in this Surrender function.

While it is still unclear how Riot will handle or implement the “Quick Surrender” feature in the future, it is clear that player reactions have not been very positive. Riot will have to carefully consider this, as for toxic players or those with the intent to “game ruin” from before, this is nothing short of a powerful tool for them to execute their schemes.
