Riot is Determined to Attract More New Players to League of Legends
For any gamer, when first approaching MOBA titles like League of Legends, mastering the basic skills is essential. One of these skills is damage calculation and last hitting minions to maximize resources during the laning phase. Especially when playing in a difficult lane or facing a weaker champion, mastering last hitting becomes crucial.

To make it easier for new players to engage, according to some information, Riot may introduce a last hit counter in League of Legends in the near future. This counter’s mechanism will change the health of minions to white when they reach a threshold that can be last hit with two basic attacks. This way, regular players can more easily calculate damage, regardless of the champion they are using. Additionally, sources indicate that this mechanism will only apply in Normal (non-ranked) matches.

The League of Legends Community is Debating the Issue
Many opinions suggest that this is a suitable move to help new gamers master the basic mechanisms of League of Legends without spending too much time. Currently, attracting more new players is a top priority for a game that has been around for over 14 years. Therefore, launching this mechanism will help players who want to engage with League of Legends.
However, even though it has been announced that the mechanism will only apply in Normal matches, some believe that certain players will exploit this mechanism to frustrate others, such as Support players potentially “stealing” last hits from their ADCs.

Nevertheless, this may be a necessary mechanism, especially as PC MOBA games are entering a saturation phase after a long time of release. If new players are not attracted, the decline of these games is a foreseeable outcome.
