Playing League of Legends, players surely look forward to new changes. The publisher Riot Games is preparing to introduce a series of changes, particularly concerning items before and during the preseason phase. Specifically, Riot will add items for tanks, mages, and rework the Bloodthirster item that was removed from the Summoner’s Rift.
1. Introducing Tank Items
The publisher Riot Games will unveil a new tank item called Legendary Tank, which will focus on connecting with a target to bring interesting features. In League of Legends, we have some connective items like Zeke’s Convergence or Knight’s Vow. However, as Riot shared: “The new tank item will link to opponents rather than allies.” This is quite similar to the feature of the Chain Mail Gauntlet.

This item will aim to reduce the power of marked enemies while creating a wide-area aura that increases the “Effect Resistance” stats for allies if you are nearby. Therefore, this item will be less effective if the enemy team has little damage output or to counter split-pushing targets on the side. The item is expected to be launched very soon, predicted in September or October.
2. Reworking Bloodthirster
Bloodthirster belongs to the category of items with burst potential and sustain, strong in duels but used by a limited number of champions. Riot has removed this item from the map, but they have plans to rework it.

Therefore, the publisher is considering making Bloodthirster an item for all champions that can interact with physical power. Developers are transforming Bloodthirster into an item that can face various champions, especially countering strong tanks. Thus, Bloodthirster will aim to counter tanks more, allowing physical damage champions to build it easily, quite similar to the Blade of the Ruined King? This item is expected to be released alongside the tank item.

3. Introducing Mage Items
Mage champions include support champions focused on shielding and healing, thus having relatively low maximum health. Therefore, champions with “Illusion” capabilities can quickly get taken down, so Riot is thinking of an item to help them escape pressure from opponents.

This item will function similarly to Zhonya’s Hourglass but will be more supportive. It will help Mages withstand powerful attacking champions for a short duration, such as Zed, Talon, Akali, Qiyana… then they can utilize their short cooldown abilities to continue empowering teammates. This will surely be a very strong and important item for the Mage group. This item is expected to be launched during the Preseason phase.
