A few hours ago, T1 announced a significant change in their coaching staff ahead of the 2022 World Championship. Accordingly, Bengi – the former jungler of SKT T1 – will take on the role of head coach for the upcoming World Championship. Additionally, the current head coach Polt will transition to a management role (General Manager). Assisting Bengi will be Sky – also a former player of SKT T1. The other member is Moment – the current coach of T1.

Since MSI 2022, T1 has shown many issues, and the coaching staff is one of them. Recently, during the final days of LCK Summer 2022, some T1 fans even sent trucks to the team. The message from T1 fans was a demand for changes in the coaching staff. One of the requests was to include individuals who have previously won the World Championship in the coaching team.
The addition of Bengi could be the most crucial piece that helps T1 strive for the title at this year’s World Championship.

Bengi Meets All Fan Requirements
Among the teams in the LCK (and perhaps even on the international stage), T1 has one of the largest fan bases. Time and again, the fans have pointed out persistent issues within T1. In fact, the pressure from fans can sometimes be greater than any other competitive result.
It’s difficult to say that T1’s decision to change the coaching staff entirely stemmed from fan pressure. However, the importance of T1’s fans in applying pressure to the team’s management and players cannot be denied. Currently, Bengi embodies all the qualities that fans have been asking for. Only time will tell if this change will prove effective in the upcoming World Championship 2022.

Bengi Has the “Champion’s DNA”
In the history of League of Legends in general and the LCK region in particular, there are two players regarded as the greatest. The first, who is still active, is Faker. The other is Bengi. During his playing career, this jungler was seen as the best and most synergistic with Faker. In fact, Bengi was often considered Faker’s third summoner spell. He is also the second player, alongside Faker, to have three World Championship titles and numerous other accolades.
To win championships, teams need individuals who possess the “champion’s DNA.” And it can be said that no one fits T1 better than Bengi at this moment.

Bengi Can Connect Very Well with Faker
As previously mentioned, during his playing days, Bengi and Faker were a very close duo. They were incredibly in sync during matches and were considered the strongest pair in the League of Legends scene at that time. After Bengi’s retirement, it was believed that one of the reasons T1 struggled was because Faker no longer had a compatible partner. Subsequent players expected to replace Bengi did not meet the required standards.
Having a coach who truly understands and connects well with the players is always a crucial factor within any team. Previously, T1 had coach kkOma. Although “Mama Bear” was never a professional player, he had an excellent connection with the players and high expertise. After coach kkOma left, T1 struggled with coaches Kim, the duo of Daeny – Zefa, and currently coach Polt. All of these individuals have varying levels of expertise but have left many issues in their connections with the players.

With Bengi, he was once a player. Now, he is the head coach and a close friend of Faker. Many fans also believe that the connection between Bengi and Faker, as well as with other players, will be much better than with previous predecessors.
