In recent days, alongside new updates and information about tournaments, the Ruined King event has been one of the most closely followed topics by the League of Legends community. This event was teased back at the beginning of the season when the champion Viego was introduced, planning to invade all of Runeterra with his Black Mist, while the duo Lucian – Senna would lead the warriors against the Ruined King.
It is evident that many names featured in the cinematic introducing the Ruined King event at the start of the season have become the first members of the Sentinels of Light, such as Vayne, while the duo Lucian – Senna needs no introduction. And at this point, with Demacia having fallen to the Mist, attention is now shifting to other champions related to this land as players await their arrival.
However, one thing has left gamers puzzled: if Vayne is officially a member of the Sentinels, then her ally, the Yordle warrior who fought alongside Vayne in Riot’s cinematic, Poppy, is notably absent. Recently, to clarify this matter, Riot confirmed that Poppy will not be participating in the upcoming Ruined King event.

“We want to announce that her (Poppy’s) appearance in the previous cinematic was merely a narrative device. We do not have plans for her in this event, but this is not because we think Poppy’s skin wouldn’t sell or anything like that. It’s simply that we can’t include all champions from the cinematic in the event as it already has its own designs established, more so than the Spirit Blossom event.
We want each region to have one champion, and we don’t have the opportunity to add many champions for each region. We had to choose between Poppy and Vayne for the Demacia region, and we chose Vayne because her story carries more significance (as she is a demon hunter joining the Sentinels to hunt more demons makes more sense, and her storyline also intertwines with the Sentinels). That is the honest answer. Of course, if someday we have enough capabilities and resources, we would love to include as many champions as players want in this story.”
Through this response, players can finally stop hoping for Poppy’s appearance in the Ruined King event, even though this Yordle champion is a formidable name from Demacia. Additionally, it is very likely that as we move to other lands (like Noxus, for example), both Darius and Samira (two names that appeared in the cinematic) will also not be present as this land has already “contributed” Draven and Riven.
