A few days ago, Riot Meddler – the project director of League of Legends – shared a lengthy post about their upcoming plans for the game. There are two main issues that Riot Meddler addressed: one is that the community is quite annoyed when playing ARAM but has pets from Teamfight Tactics following them. The second issue concerns which skins will be further developed and which ones will not.

Specifically, in the upcoming patch 10.15, Riot Games will completely remove the appearance of pets on the ARAM map. Riot’s initial intention was to add a few fun elements to liven up this map; however, the reality is that it only made it more confusing. Moreover, the absence of pets on the ARAM map will allow the pet design team to have more freedom to focus solely on Teamfight Tactics.

Riot Meddler also shared that there are players who bought pets just to play ARAM and never play Teamfight Tactics. Therefore, when they update patch 10.15 and remove pets from ARAM, such players will receive RP equivalent to the pets they own. This RP refund will take place from the time patch 10.15 is updated until patch 10.16 appears.

The second issue that Riot Meddler mentioned is regarding skins. He shared that the sales success of skins depends on many factors, such as how popular the champion is, how much players love the champion, and the quality of the skin. Skins are a win-win product as they bring happiness to players and revenue to Riot.
The two most successful skin lines from Riot Games are the High Noon and Star Guardian lines. The High Noon skin line has been around for a long time, but it wasn’t until 2018, with the release of the trio Lucian, Thresh, and Urgot along with an extravagant trailer, that it truly shined and garnered a lot of community support and skyrocketed sales. The Star Guardian line needs no introduction as it sells like hotcakes every season it launches.

Two skin lines that Riot is considering rebooting are the Sweet Candy and Elegant lines. Similar to the previous situation of the High Noon skin line, they were not introduced with grandeur or had famous faces representing them, leading to poor sales. Therefore, Riot is planning to refresh them in 2021.

With these insights, players who do not play Teamfight Tactics but love the pets are extremely delighted as the RP invested in them will finally be refunded. Additionally, the beloved skin lines of Riot are likely to make a comeback; are we about to see the Star Guardians 2020?
