If you’re a top lane player who specializes in Kennen, you surely understand the importance of the W skill – Lightning Rush. This ability allows Kennen to deal damage, apply his passive stacks to multiple targets, and serves as an extremely dangerous weapon in team fights. Kennen can even “blow away” the enemy team with his combo in team engagements.

However, the limitation of the W – Lightning Rush is that its activation range is only average, and sometimes being “greedy” in using it can put players in a dangerous position. Recently, however, players have discovered a way to use this skill from an extremely far and safe distance while still dealing significant damage to opponents.
As we can see in the video, when you place a passive mark on a target using the E skill, you can move far away and apply another mark on another target with Q. If you use W – Lightning Rush at the right moment, all targets with passive marks will be damaged, regardless of whether they are within the activation range of this ability or not. The result is that you can deal damage to enemy champions from a very safe distance as long as there are minions nearby.

According to bug expert Vandiril, this unreasonable interaction has existed since patch 12.6 and it has not yet been fixed. It is unclear what the cause of this bug is since Kennen was only recently adjusted in terms of skill stats while the mechanics of his abilities remain unchanged. Could it be that Riot intentionally made this change to allow Kennen to appear more frequently at the upcoming MSI 2022, which is less than a month away?

Hopefully, in the near future, Riot Games will fix this bug to ensure balance for Kennen. If they truly want Kennen to be able to strike from ‘miles away’, they should inform players rather than providing no official information as they currently do.
