In a recent development video released by Riot Games, alongside new champion introductions, skins, and events for League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics was also mentioned. The special highlight is that Riot teased a massive update for the “auto chess” game coming soon, during mid-season 3. This update will include a new Galaxy, a new battlefield, and other champions joining the “auto chess”.

According to Riot Meddler, the project director for League of Legends, patch 10.12 is the time when this significant update will be released. So, there is just over a month left until this “massive update” arrives, hence it’s understandable that players are discussing and making predictions about new champions. Just a few hours ago, when the 2020 Ultimate Weapon skin line was introduced, many players believed that Pantheon would be the next character to enter Teamfight Tactics.

Pantheon Ultimate Weapon is already available on PBE and is likely to be added to Teamfight Tactics as a Chrono, Vanguard, or Guardian champion. What do you think about this? I think he will resemble Braum with that massive shield.

Another Chrono/Vanguard champion would be great to pair with Wukong. Mortdog (the lead designer of Teamfight Tactics) mentioned that they are looking for ways to shift the game’s meta away from relying on a single tribe – system effect like 6 Cybernetics, 6 Dark Star, 6 Rebels… and one of the best ways is to make 2-3 core champions that can fit into any composition.

Mortdog stated on stream that they will use the “upcoming skin” to create a new champion, so this is very likely to happen.
Oh no, I’m not ready for Pantheon’s return.
Do it, Riot!

Chrono Guardian seems like it would be awesome; you can mix Chrono – Blademaster – Cosmic – Guardian using Pantheon, Shen, and Xayah.
We need more Guardian champions since reaching the 6 Guardian combo is too difficult.
Looking at some of the skins from the 2020 Ultimate Weapon line, we see that 3 out of 4 champions, Lucian, Fiora, and Ekko, are already present in Teamfight Tactics, all as Cybernetics. Therefore, using one of the upcoming skins to create a champion in Teamfight Tactics can only be Pantheon.

Moreover, just as international players have commented, Riot needs more champions with strong defensive traits for Chrono, and the perfect character can only be Pantheon. Remember in season 1, Pantheon was also a strong defensive champion with the Dragon – Guardian tribe – system (back then, the Dragon tribe provided magic resistance), so it’s not surprising for this character to return with similar traits.

Anyway, all of the above is just speculation, and although it sounds convincing, the final decision still lies with Riot Games. One thing we can be sure of is that Teamfight Tactics will soon undergo major updates that will completely change the game.
