If we were to find a name worthy of being the greatest legend in the esports world in general and League of Legends (LoL) in particular, almost everyone would immediately think of Faker. The mid-laner of T1 has achieved all the glory that a professional LoL player could dream of. His influence has long surpassed the realm of LoL and esports.
Because of what Faker has done from the past to the present, there have been numerous discussions and debates about who could be worthy of replacing Faker once this legend retires. Many names have been mentioned, but after a long time, no one has truly proven themselves to inherit the “throne” left by Faker.
In the current LCK, there are two names that can be seen as the best generation, capable of inheriting and enhancing the values that Faker has left behind. The first is ShowMaker and the second is Chovy. ShowMaker has achieved a lot of glory, both domestically and internationally. However, he is currently just a shadow of himself as his performance has clearly declined since the 2021 World Championship (Worlds 2021).
But Chovy, after a long time being labeled as a “minion clear machine”, can now be considered the best mid-laner in the LCK. Just in the playoffs of the LCK Summer 2022, Chovy achieved two remarkable milestones. In the two matches against Liiv SANDBOX and T1, Chovy secured 28 kills, 62 assists, and only died 6 times. Additionally, Chovy also had a KDA of 15 – the highest among all players participating in the LCK Summer 2022 playoffs.
Azir is also the champion that Chovy played best in this tournament. From the start of the group stage until the end of the final match, Chovy had 12 kills and 36 assists with Azir. His win-loss record with this champion is 13 wins – 1 loss.
When Chovy joined Gen.G, many of his fans were extremely happy because now, he was surrounded by true superstars. However, Gen.G was unable to dethrone T1 with their dominant performance in Spring 2022. It wasn’t until Summer 2022 that Chovy finally tasted glory.

Coming up, Chovy will compete with Gen.G at Worlds 2022 as the number one seed. Chovy’s responsibility will be extremely important. Not only must he prove that he is ready to inherit Faker’s “throne,” but he also has to bring the championship trophy back to Korea. This is no easy task, and Chovy will have to put in even more effort than he did last Summer.
