Arcane Jinx Skin Considered a “Disaster” from Riot
To say the least, Season 2 of the Arcane series is truly a masterpiece as it conveys deep and meaningful stories. The conflicts and struggles for power, social issues, and emotional scenes are all portrayed exceptionally well. The fact that all nine episodes of Arcane Season 2 received a score of over 9 on IMDb is enough to speak to the film’s quality.

However, when it comes back to League of Legends, several Arcane-related products from Riot are causing public outrage. Yesterday (December 2), we mentioned how Riot received significant backlash for the rework of Viktor’s visuals and interface. Today (December 3), with the official reveal of the Arcane Jinx skin on the PBE server, it has continued to spark considerable outrage from the League of Legends community.
The first reason comes from the fact that to obtain this limited skin, players are required to participate in a “gacha” system with a 0.5% chance of receiving Arcane Jinx with each roll. To ensure they receive this skin (also known as “insurance”), players will need to roll up to 80 times at a cost of 32,000 RP. This amount of RP is worth $250 (approximately 6 million VND), while in the Vietnamese server, gamers will need to purchase 5 packages of 1 million VND to have enough RP to own this skin.

What’s even more concerning is that with the exorbitant price mentioned above, the effects that Arcane Jinx brings are regarded as not worthy at all. The skin is introduced as giving Jinx three different forms, but two of them look 99% alike. Furthermore, all the variants of Arcane Jinx move similarly and lack any unique recall animations or special emotes. Additionally, the weapons in this skin do not feature any special designs based on Jinx’s transformations. What disappoints many players is that Arcane Jinx does not have a Pentakill effect, even though this champion can achieve it relatively easily.

Community Outrage Towards Riot for Low-Quality Arcane Product
As soon as the images of the Arcane Jinx skin were revealed, it sparked a significant wave of outrage within the League of Legends community. It’s worth noting that Jinx is a highly popular character in both League of Legends and the Arcane series, so the “Supreme” tier skin for her was expected to be of very high quality. Moreover, Riot itself had previously introduced it as a “luxurious” and “super exclusive” skin, which set high expectations. Thus, when they failed to meet those expectations, it is quite understandable that Riot faced severe criticism from the community.

As mentioned above, Arcane is a fantastic series that meets both entertainment and high-quality storytelling standards. However, Riot Games’ release of low-quality products like the Arcane Jinx skin or the rework of Viktor has hindered that greatness from being fully realized. Hopefully, Riot will soon find solutions to rectify these “faulty” products before they officially launch.
