With just a few days left, the tournaments in the League of Legends scene are set to return, and of course, all eyes will be on the LCK region – where T1 reigns supreme after winning the Worlds 2023 championship. Notably, the matchups between T1 and Gen.G, or any names in the group of top teams in the LCK (KT Rolster, Dplus KIA, etc.), will undoubtedly attract a lot of attention. This is because T1 is the current champion of Worlds 2023 – the new king of League of Legends. Everyone wants to see how the T1 players will perform after reaching the pinnacle of the world.

However, recently, some T1 players T1 have reported that they are facing many challenges in the new season, specifically in their preparations. In particular, Gumayusi shared insights about the team’s training situation. According to him, although the Preseason has not officially launched, teams can begin practicing with this version. However, according to Gumayusi, T1 has not yet fully adapted to the new version, resulting in poor scrim results. “The whole team is really struggling to adapt to the new season, such as the new Summoner’s Rift map,” Gumayusi stated.

As we know, Riot has teased some changes for the new season, such as the map. There will be more movement options, and teams will find it harder to gank Mid Lane. Additionally, the bot lane on the Red side will now be easier to attack than before (unlike the Blue side) due to the lack of extra space from the wall near the dragon pit. This area has traditionally been seen as a place that gives the Red team more time to react to vision control maneuvers or even block opponent movements from the river area.

These adjustments can be seen as a direct “nerf” to T1 – a team that performed exceptionally well on the Red side during the recent Worlds 2023. Despite numerous complaints about the advantages of side selection, T1 has shown that this really doesn’t matter to them. However, with these changes, T1 will have to significantly alter their playstyle.

Of course, there will still be some time before audiences can recognize the impacts of the adjustments made by Riot. But at this moment, through Gumayusi’s statements, it can be said that teams will undoubtedly encounter many challenges in the new season. And these challenges could very well come from Riot itself – the “creator” of League of Legends.
