As we know, in recent days, alongside the bustling end-of-season transfer market, a section of fans of the LCK tournament and the teams in the region have been buzzing with excitement over news related to the team Gen.G. According to the team’s COO, Riot has officially recognized the two Worlds championships in 2014 by Samsung Galaxy White and 2017 by Samsung Galaxy as legally owned by Gen.G. Through the COO’s statements, this team has risen to become the second team with the most Worlds championships in the League of Legends scene, only behind SKT T1/T1.

But not just Gen.G, recently, according to media reports from LCK, the tournament organizers have also recognized two more teams that have the right to inherit the legacies of the teams they have acquired. First, it is the legendary ROX Tigers, now Hanwha Life Esports. Specifically, HLE has been confirmed to own the championship that ROX won in Summer 2016. The other team, OKSavingsBank BRION, officially owns the Champions Winter 2013 title of NaJin e-mFire. For those who don’t know, this Champions tournament is the predecessor of the current LCK.

Thus, two teams that have been empty-handed since they officially entered the League of Legends map now have titles. Of course, both OKBRO and HLE do not cause as much controversy as Gen.G. Because the titles that Gen.G possesses are muddled with SSW and SSG from years ago, which have international significance and are clearly more valuable than domestic titles. Not to mention, the championship of NaJin e-mFire during the early stages of the tournament and many big names at that time were still getting acquainted with League of Legends.

The recognition of teams after acquiring old teams to inherit their legacies remains a controversial issue in the fan community. Because each title is the result of the efforts of the players throughout the season. And sometimes, mere recognition from Riot is not enough for fans to truly accept these titles obtained through acquisitions.
