As of now, the LCK Spring 2022 group stage is nearing its end, and the teams that will participate in the playoffs are gradually becoming clear. Besides following how long the “undefeated champion” T1 can maintain their impressive record, the battle among teams vying for the last two playoff spots is also extremely noteworthy. In particular, the team capturing the spotlight is not KT Rolster but rather Fredit BRION. More specifically, the name that is gradually going viral in the LoL community is “Sir” Morgan – the top laner of BRO.

The nickname “Sir” given to the 2001-born player by the LoL community stems from Morgan’s “audience-blinding” plays when he donned the Hanwha Life Esports jersey. Notably, his use of Flash to dodge a minion’s attack in the match between HLE and Royal Never Give Up left everyone watching in astonishment. From those “blinding” plays, international LoL fans dubbed the former HLE top laner as “Lord” Morgan or “Sir” Morgan, and when localized, the Vietnamese LoL community refers to the BRO rookie picked up in the end-of-season transfer window of 2021 as “Ngài”.
But despite being a target of humor, in reality, Morgan is quite a talented toplaner in the current LCK. In fact, it can be said that in a team where the skill level of the players is only average like BRO, “Sir” Morgan is the standout. He is the first player in LCK Spring 2022 to use Renekton and secure a victory. For those who don’t know, the Crocodile God is one of Morgan’s “favorite” champions but had a win rate of 0% until BRO’s player used it. Moreover, if BRO hadn’t tested positive for COVID-19 before their match against T1, LoL fans predicted that Faker and his teammates would have to ban “Sir” Morgan’s crocodile.
Not just in the LCK or VCS, but wherever BRO is mentioned, it’s likely that 9 out of 10 people will think of “Sir” Morgan first. Although he doesn’t have the same influential talent as Faker, and certainly, many who call Morgan “Sir” do so with irony, there will also be thoughts that this nickname has now become a characteristic of this new player born in 2001.
Even if this way of gaining fame is somewhat humorous, it cannot be denied that Morgan has actually somewhat succeeded in creating his own “brand”. Just ask, with experienced toplaners like Canna, Kiin, or Khan, people only remember them when they appear to win titles or are related to the teams they play for. But for Morgan, whenever he speaks up, it’s almost certain that the social media forums of the LoL community will buzz.

Not to mention, in Vietnam alone, the viewership of BRO’s matches this season is on par with that of T1. Especially, whenever BRO plays, on the chat channel, which is notoriously toxic, almost all comments only mention “Sir”. In some way, it can be humorously noted that Morgan has indeed made the chat frames of professional LoL live matches on YouTube in Vietnam cleaner.

Currently, Morgan and BRO are going through tough times due to the impact of COVID-19. However, with the performances so far, Morgan has shown real improvement compared to his time at HLE. And who knows, on a day when Renekton isn’t banned, Morgan might just pull off a surprise against DWG KIA. If he can lead BRO into the playoffs, the name “Sir” Morgan will undoubtedly excite the LoL community even more.
