After the 11.16 patch, Jarvan IV received a buff to his passive damage (increased from 8% to 10% of the target’s current health) and his ultimate, Cataclysm (from 150% to 180% bonus AD). Thanks to this buff, the “clown prince of LPL” has been continuously experimenting with Jarvan in the mid lane using various builds.
After trying Jarvan in the mid lane with a rather annoying full tank playstyle, Doinb discovered an optimal damage playstyle with Jarvan Aery in the mid lane.
With this “heavy AP” rune page, Doinb’s new Jarvan will lane with a poke style whenever his passive, Martial Cadence, is up, using the Aery and Ignite runes to maximize the opponent’s health burn.
At the same time, the shield from W combined with the Corrupting Potion will create a health differential between himself and his opponent, allowing Doinb to continuously apply pressure, making it hard for the enemy to farm comfortably.
Notably, Jarvan is a champion with quite a diverse build path, ranging from full damage to semi-tank and full tank. Therefore, whatever his team lacks, Doinb will fill in the gap (even though his playstyle is always full tank).
Finally, the mid-laner of FunPlus Phoenix shared: “Jarvan will be FPX’s secret weapon at Worlds, this pick will be very powerful at Worlds, just like I said before that Lee Sin and Viego would be very popular. Other teams are definitely going to play Jarvan too.”
