As the earliest tournament held in the professional League of Legends (LoL), the LPL Summer 2023 has attracted significant attention from fans. According to the tournament schedule, it is likely that the Chinese LoL team will not participate in the ASIAD Play-In stage. Therefore, LPL Summer 2023 will be an opportunity to assess the strength of this region ahead of two major tournaments at the end of the year.

One of the most notable matches recently was the clash between Edward Gaming (EDG) and Top Esports (TES). Remarkably, in game 2 of this match, Meiko’s Rakan encountered a rare bug. Normally, when Rakan uses his W ability – Grand Entrance, a bright circle appears to mark Rakan’s destination, allowing him to dash to that point and knock up any enemies (if present).

However, Meiko’s Rakan was unable to dash even though the marker appeared and the visual knock-up effect of this skill was activated. Due to not being able to dash, Meiko was taken down in that situation. Immediately, the match had to be paused and could only resume after being adjusted back to the time before Rakan was killed.
According to experts, this is a very rare bug with Rakan. Even those who frequently look out for bugs or test champions in LoL encounter this situation infrequently. Many opinions suggest that this was an unfortunate moment for Meiko, but it seemed to foreshadow a rough day for EDG. The reason is that afterwards, TES came back to win 2-1.

This continues the streak of EDG not being able to defeat TES in an official match. The last time the 2021 World Championship (Worlds) champion defeated TES was back in March 2019. Notably, EDG has never beaten a lineup featuring JackeyLove, whether he was with Invictus Gaming or Top Esports.

Some teams have begun to showcase their strength in LPL Summer 2023. However, it is still not enough basis to make any assessments, and perhaps fans will have to wait longer to truly provide the most accurate evaluation of the strength of LPL teams this season.
