The match-fixing scandal involving certain individuals in VCS has garnered attention since initial information related to the case was revealed. As of now, although the matter is considered “closed” in terms of judgment, it still lingers in the minds of both Vietnamese and international League of Legends fans, accompanied by much discussion. Of course, with such a significant case, it is understandable that it receives more attention than usual. Vietnamese Esports has witnessed many permanent bans, but having all 8 players receive punishment at once is unprecedented. Therefore, claiming this is the largest match-fixing scandal in the history of VCS is not an exaggeration.

Naturally, responses to the incident vary among individuals. However, the general consensus acknowledges: it is the players themselves who have ruined their own futures. In fact, not only in Esports or League of Legends, but with a “history” of deceit and match-fixing for personal gain, these players are believed to face difficulties if they pursue other jobs outside of gaming. For the international community, there is even a YouTube channel that took the effort to create a nearly 10-minute video summarizing the entire VCS incident.

Notably, in the comments section below the post, there were some remarks from viewers (allegedly) from Vietnam with implied self-mockery, “self-humiliation” regarding their local tournament. Some even expressed agreement with another comment stating, “Only VCS is like this.” Female MC Remind also saw the clip and was so upset that she screenshot the comment and posted it on her Facebook page to criticize the “self-humiliating” remarks about the Vietnamese League of Legends scene.

Under the post from the once-famous MC of VCS, many comments expressed agreement. However, some comments remarked that this incident is indeed too big. Perhaps those remarks carry a hint of self-deprecation from supporters who are deeply disappointed by their regional players.

While the VCS incident is currently prominent throughout the League of Legends community from Vietnam to the world, it is clearly not a pleasant situation. In reality, not every player is involved in cheating and many still compete honestly. Therefore, the self-deprecating comments from some fans towards the region or generalizing the situation could be seen as overlooking the efforts to create a clean region with professional players by individuals and teams existing in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene.
