The match between Suning Gaming and OMG in the LPL Spring 2020 group stage yesterday can be described as a do-or-die battle that determined SofM and his teammates’ chances of securing a playoff spot.
However, on a day when even the brightest star of the team played unfocused, Suning Gaming faced another defeat and found themselves further away from their goal than ever.
After suffering a complete defeat in the first game, Suning Gaming decided to unleash their trump card, Sett Jungle. The second game went according to SofM and his team’s strategy, with Sett proving to be too strong and setting up effective ganks, allowing SN to take the lead throughout the first half of the match.
However, it was SofM himself, with a careless play, who threw away his team’s victory. He attempted to steal the Rift Herald in the opponent’s jungle without realizing that OMG had vision there, while SN’s team composition was scattered all over the map.

As a result, SofM was hunted down by all five enemy members after a helpless period of waiting. After eliminating the enemy jungler, OMG quickly initiated the Baron, and SN, who had been controlling the match, found themselves in a passive state, having to barge into the Baron pit with fewer members, leading to a completely disastrous team fight.

It can be said that the dynamics of the match completely reversed after SofM’s individual mistake, and OMG regained full control of the game, easily closing out the second game less than five minutes after this incident.
The damaging loss to OMG has left SN with almost no chance of competing for a playoff spot, as OMG has taken over the 8th position on the leaderboard. To cling to a slim hope, SofM and SN must win all three remaining matches with a score of 2-0, while also hoping that OMG or RNG lose 3 out of their remaining 4 matches.

Suning is currently ranked 12th on the leaderboard, two wins away from the playoff spots, but has played one more game. In reality, this is a very unlikely scenario, and perhaps SofM’s playoff dream is about to end, regrettably stemming from his own personal mistake.
