Evil Geniuses is still struggling in the lower half of the LCS Spring 2020 standings, with 4 wins and 6 losses. However, at least the team has shown a somewhat better performance than at the start of the season, and in fact, the gap between EG and the playoff contenders is only a single win.
However, Bang’s team – the legendary former AD carry of SKT, definitely has reasons to regret, as losing to Team SoloMid last week not only caused EG to miss the chance to close the gap with the top teams, but also led the two-time world champion to set a rather… unfortunate personal record.
Specifically, with a KDA stat of exactly 0/0/0, Bang has become one of the rare players in LCS history to not be involved in any kills (kills, deaths, or assists) in a match. Yuri “Keith” Jew – the support of Golden Guardians was the first to set this “hard-to-bear” record, but the issue is that his team still won that match.
The ironic part here also highlights the issues within the current meta. TSM defeated EG with a kill score of 8 – 1, and thus, Bang’s KDA of 0/0/0 is understandable, as EG managed to secure only one kill throughout the match, while they were taken down 8 times.
Notably, in this match, it was Bang, not anyone else, who dealt the highest damage across both teams. Ezreal in his hands dealt a whopping 19.9k damage to enemy champions, while the second-highest damage dealer – TSM’s AD carry Kobbe, only dealt 14.8k damage.
Clearly, EG’s problem is their inability to capitalize on the opportunities created by Bang. The EG lineup in the match against TSM was heavily defensive, relying entirely on Ezreal’s damage over time, but Bang’s teammates failed to establish a favorable situation for the core AD carry to operate effectively.
Sett and Leblanc were continuously caught out, causing EG to always enter fights at a disadvantage, and with Ezreal’s champion qualities, Bang couldn’t do anything but poke from a distance and retreat safely, avoiding being caught and giving the opponent extra advantages.
It is not uncommon for an AD carry to have a KDA of zero in a match, but the case of dealing the highest damage in the game without any kills like Bang is truly… ironic.
