The mid lane is one of the positions that can easily gank with your jungler, so many players prefer champions that can roam well in this position. On the other hand, there are also many players who want to “settle down” in the mid lane to farm and take tower plates. But to stay put in the mid lane without moving much while not putting the team at a disadvantage, we should use champions that can contribute to the team in uniquely different ways.
Here is a list of “lazy-moving” mages that still create pressure across the entire map:
Ziggs

With his ability to clear waves extremely fast, Ziggs can keep enemies busy in the mid lane, preventing minions from pushing into his tower. At that time, Ziggs can freely poke when enemies try to last-hit minions under the tower or go warding to maintain vision control. With such efforts, sometimes Ziggs can take down enemies right under the tower if he lands his skills accurately in succession.
As for pressure on other lanes, Ziggs can “join the fun” with a Mega Inferno Bomb (R) to assist teammates while still farming safely in the mid lane. If the enemies decide to roam, Ziggs’s job is to ping his team to retreat, push straight into the enemy tower to take tower plates or even the first tower. Many people mistakenly believe that when enemies roam, Ziggs always has to follow up for counter-ganks, but if the team retreats to the tower, allowing Ziggs to push the mid tower, then it’s definitely worth it. Just pushing 1-2 waves of minions with his passive Short Fuse and Satchel Charge (W), Ziggs can easily pocket the first tower with a lot of gold.

Xerath

Also a champion that can clear waves quickly like Ziggs, Xerath can take advantage of this to control vision in the river, primarily helping the jungler. Once the river is under control, the jungler will feel comfortable ganking because they know where the enemies have vision and where they do not. When skirmishes break out in the other two lanes, Xerath can participate with Arcane Barrage (R) (600-700 damage at level 6), enough to take down an enemy with about half or 3/4 of their health left.
Sometimes Xerath’s ultimate doesn’t need to be used hastily; this mage can use it gradually (even if it may miss entirely) to block off enemies, making it easier for teammates to engage and take down enemies – this situation is often humorously referred to by commentators as “closing the angle”.

Lissandra

This is one of the most annoying champions in the mid lane, as if she is not consistently crowd-controlled, it is very difficult to keep Lissandra from retreating with Ice Shard (E). When laning, this champion can push the lane relatively quickly with her Q + Hextech GLP combo. Once she reaches level 6, even if she doesn’t need to roam much, whenever she does, Lissandra will secure kills. This overwhelming power lies in her extremely strong and easy-to-use crowd control skills of Glacial Tomb (R) + Ring of Frost (W).
Because of that powerful combo, sometimes Lissandra only needs one ward behind the enemy to eliminate them entirely. In team fights, Lissandra is even stronger due to her area damage, along with her passive Iceborn Subjugation, which can take down enemy teams in a domino effect.

Galio

As one of the currently hot mages in the meta, Galio is always a threat to any area on the map.
In the early game laning phase, Galio can clear waves from slow to fast depending on how much pressure the enemy puts on him. However, once he has the combo of Shield of Durand (Q) + Hextech GLP, a wave of minions can disappear in an instant. At this point, Galio can comfortably farm the Monster Raptors, take the Krugs, ward, and more around the mid lane. But once a team fight breaks out, a Hero’s Entrance ultimate will fly straight to teammates, and enemies within the affected range usually find it hard to retreat safely. Because the control combo of Justice Punch (E) + Shield of Durand (W) is extremely hard to dodge, enemies everywhere are always pressured by Galio, wary when deciding to engage with Galio’s teammates.
