Galio
Once a dominant force in the mid lane for a long time, especially in 2019, Galio has started to appear less frequently or is mainly picked as a Support. With good tankiness and solid engage, Galio’s somewhat sluggish nature has led to a period of “lost relevance” for this champion.
However, Galio is making a comeback. His tankiness, skill set, and high magic resistance are perfect for the Colossal Guardian to duel against mages like Syndra and Orianna in the mid lane. Moreover, with an early Heroic Entrance, Galio can better protect his teammates and initiate fights more effectively.

One weakness of this pick is that the Zhonya’s Hourglass has increased in price, but just one well-timed engage is enough, and teammates will do the rest for Galio.
Malzahar
The Void Prodigy has made a spectacular return in patch 11.3, boasting a win rate of 52% as of now. His strong wave clear and ultimate R – Nether Grasp helps counter ganks effectively. The only weakness of Malzahar might be that he is a control-oriented champion, so if the opponents continuously force fights, it will be challenging for Malzahar to gather enough resources to be truly powerful.

Ekko
Like Galio, Ekko was once very popular, then nearly disappeared, and is now making a comeback in the current patch. Another common point between these two champions is that the Zhonya’s Hourglass price increase has somewhat affected their power. However, at this point, Ekko is a solid choice to completely neutralize the strength of mages with his mobility and damage potential.

His ultimate Time Winder allows Ekko to evade rapid burst damage in fights, avoid ganks, and tower dives. Slow mages will find it very difficult to counter Ekko in one-on-one mid lane matchups.
Fizz
Fizz is one of the strongest AP assassins in patch 11.3. This champion is always regarded as extremely mobile, with high playmaking potential, and can completely change the course of a match after a successful engagement.
With Playful/Trickster, Fizz can easily escape sudden ganks. By late game, once he reaches his power spike, Fizz can take you out in the blink of an eye with Chum the Waters.

Yone
When the Kraken Slayer was buffed, it was immediately clear that Yone had returned. This champion gets everything he needs from Kraken Slayer, from AD to attack speed, not to mention the lifesteal.

Not only can Yone become the primary damage dealer for his team with massive damage, but he can also dive right into the enemy’s heart and serve as a new engage option in cases where the top lane isn’t coming down and the Support has been quickly burst down. With such advantages, it’s no wonder Yone is becoming the top pick for mid lane to completely dominate the enemy team from the very early minutes.
