On the afternoon of August 31, the VCS community focused all attention on the clash between GAM Esports (GAM) and Saigon Buffalo (SGB) in the playoffs of VCS Summer 2022. Not only did it recreate the VCS Spring 2022 final, but it was also a showdown between the two teams that could be considered the strongest in VCS at the moment. The goal of both teams was nothing less than victory to secure a spot in the 2022 World Championship.
The match unfolded exactly as the Vietnamese League of Legends (LoL) community expected. Both teams played with great effort. GAM took the lead in the score twice but could not secure the victory. For SGB, although they found themselves in a very difficult situation at times, this team ultimately clinched the win with a score of 3-2.
This is SGB’s first victory over GAM in a BO5 match, specifically in the 2022 season. Although they are not guaranteed to win the VCS Summer 2022 championship, SGB’s performances have been outstanding. Many viewers believe that if given the opportunity to face GAM again in the upcoming finals, SGB could very well secure victory.
Regarding GAM, the reigning champion of VCS Spring 2022 did not perform well in the recent winners’ finals. In games 1 and 3, GAM displayed absolute dominance from the draft phase to executing strategies in the match. However, GAM failed to replicate this in games 2, 4, and the decisive game 5.
One of the players mentioned the most after this match was captain Levi. According to many opinions, Levi did not deliver his best performance in this BO5.
