When mentioning the legend Ryu, people may not recall many of the achievements he accomplished throughout his career, but they will certainly remember the timeless highlight between him and Faker. This is also the solo kill that the League of Legends community still often brings up to “tease” Ryu. Moreover, his expression after being taken down by Faker has become a legendary meme in the League of Legends community as well as in Esports overall.
About two years ago, Ryu had a rematch against Faker before heading off to military service. Finally, after many months, the legend of the Korean League of Legends scene was able to “take revenge” on the “Demon King”. However, the nature of the match was merely a fun showmatch, and Ryu genuinely holds no grudge against the younger player who has become a legend. In fact, the two even sat together reminiscing about their memories before the former 100 Thieves star temporarily left the Esports scene.
Recently, after returning from military service, Ryu expressed his desire to return to League of Legends, but in a different capacity. According to his latest post on Twitter, Ryu stated that he wants to start a coaching career and is open to discussions with any team that is interested.

It can be seen that Ryu is following a very popular path for Esports players in general and League of Legends players in particular, which is to become a coach after ending a high-level competitive career. And very possibly, if he becomes a coach for a team in the LCK, Ryu will have the chance to face off against the now-legendary younger player. The upcoming potential matchups between Coach Ryu and player Faker, if they happen, will capture significant attention from the League of Legends community.

However, beneath his post, there are still many fans “teasing” him about the Zed solo kill from years ago. This is hard to avoid, but for Ryu now, perhaps it is only respect he holds for his talented younger brother.
