Recently, the “derby” of European League of Legends between G2 Esports and Fnatic ended with a familiar script, as the LEC champions once again obliterated their arch-rivals with a dominant performance.
However, right after the victory against FNC, G2 fans had to receive some unfortunate news, as their captain – Perkz, announced a temporary break from competition for the rest of the LEC Summer 2020:

“I am very happy that my team won the last match with a good performance!”
“To be honest, I have been facing some difficulties and showing signs of stress lately. Therefore, I want to announce that I will take a break from competition starting next week to regain my balance, enjoy a real vacation to feel better.”
“I will go home and enjoy beach trips with my mother and younger brother; I am truly excited thinking about that prospect.”
Earlier in June, Perkz’s father passed away due to cancer. After returning to his hometown in Croatia to mourn, Perkz managed to come back just in time for the start of LEC Summer 2020. However, his G2 team has not been performing convincingly, with only 4 out of 7 wins since the start of the tournament.

It seems that Perkz truly needs to rest after experiencing such a significant loss; coping with the pain of losing a loved one at the age of 20 is genuinely challenging. Perkz has tried hard to return to competitive play, but it appears that this has only led to more turmoil for him, and therefore, a break is essential for him to regain his emotional balance.
As for G2 Esports, the team has yet to make any official announcement regarding Perkz’s absence for the remainder of the tournament. Perhaps the defending European champions are still actively searching for a replacement for the position left by Perkz. One of the options being considered is Kristoffer “P1noy” Pedersen – G2’s substitute AD carry, who may be promoted to the main roster.
