With a massive player base, numerous support applications for League of Legends (LoL) have emerged. These applications allow players to access information on how to build runes and itemization effectively (in theory) for various champions. In fact, these applications are also available for Teamfight Tactics, VALORANT…

However, League of Legends players recently discovered that abusing these applications could lead to account bans. Specifically, support applications for LoL sometimes reveal the usernames of teammates in ranked mode. This is intended to help players check their teammates’ match history and performance.
Nevertheless, this practice has been completely banned by Riot Games since late 2022 to ensure fairness for players. Instead, Riot will use names like Frog Spirit, Crab Monster… to temporarily replace player names. Riot Games even requires the removal of the feature that displays teammates’ usernames from a range of support applications.

According to reports from the League of Legends community, some support applications still display player usernames. This is extremely dangerous as it can cause League of Legends players to unintentionally face account bans, even without malicious intent. Clearly, no one wants their cherished LoL account to be banned for this reason.

Therefore, League of Legends players need to think carefully before installing support applications. Gamers should thoroughly research the features these applications offer to avoid putting their accounts in jeopardy.
