With the LCS 2021 changing its format to a single split, the LCS Mid-Season Showdown 2021 was held to compete for the sole ticket to MSI 2021. The matchup in the finals was between Cloud9 and Team Liquid. Before reaching the finals, TL was defeated by C9 with a score of 3-1 and had to go through a tense BO5 against Team SoloMid in the lower bracket.
In the rematch, which also determined the ticket to MSI 2021, C9 faced some incredibly tough moments as they fell behind TL twice in a row. However, thanks to the resilience of Perkz – the former G2 Esports player and his teammates, TL managed to equalize both times and won the decisive game. Notably, Perkz also excelled, earning the overall MVP title of the match.

With this victory alongside C9, Perkz has equaled the record for the most championships in the highest regional League of Legends tournaments with Faker. The “Demon King” has won the LCK 9 times while Perkz has 8 LEC titles and 1 LCS title.

Additionally, this championship and the MSI 2021 spot also make Perkz the second player after his teammate Zven to win both LCS and LEC as a player. Previously, the C9 AD Carry had won the LEC while playing for G2 Esports – which is also Perkz’s former team.
Furthermore, Perkz is the only reigning MSI champion participating in the upcoming tournament in Iceland. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that Perkz will not have the opportunity to meet his former team again as G2 Esports failed in their quest for the LEC Spring 2021 championship. However, for the Croatian mid-laner, he has a real chance to set a new record: being the first player to win MSI with two teams from two different regions.
