With a format that has undergone many changes, Worlds 2023 has witnessed a first round of the Main Event that consists almost entirely of the strongest teams from the 4 Major regions. The only team from the minor region and wildcard that managed to stay is GAM Esports – the representative of VCS and the last hope of this group.

In this year’s Worlds 2023, JD Gaming is certainly one of the most watched teams. The representative of LPL is expected to become the first team in the history of LoL to win every title in a single season. This is something that even the legendary SKT T1 was unable to achieve when they always fell short of at least one title during their peak years. Specifically, if they win Worlds 2023, Ruler will solidify his position as the “second GOAT” in the LoL scene, just behind Faker.

However, in a recent statement, the player Knight admitted: “If we win this tournament, I think we will be the second team in history, just behind SKT T1.” Knight is also aware that JDG is on the verge of becoming the first team to achieve a “Grand Slam of titles in history.”

Explaining why he still ranks JDG behind the legendary SKT T1, Knight acknowledged: “They have dominated the top for too long, and importantly, whenever SKT T1 participates in Worlds, they almost always achieve the best results. Not to mention, they are the only team currently with 3 Worlds championships and have defended the Worlds title. Surpassing them is really difficult.”

Knight’s assessment is somewhat humble but also cannot deny one thing: during their peak era, SKT T1 was indeed too powerful and great. Their achievements still remain unmatched to this day, let alone surpassed. However, if JDG wins Worlds 2023, they will still be great in their own way.
