On the evening of September 2nd (Vietnam time), Riot officially announced the launch of the new champion Vex along with her skill set, trailer, and a series of new skin images. The new champion is also related to Viego and the Black Mist. Specifically, as revealed by Riot staff, Vex is the one who helps Viego spread the Black Mist across the world of Runeterra by opening magical teleportation portals.

However, alongside the trailers and information about Vex’s skills, the League of Legends community is particularly focused on the skin that Riot has given this champion upon release. Accordingly, Vex will be the next name to join the Sentinel skin line. The colors of Vex’s new skin will also follow the main color scheme of the Sentinels, which is white, blue, and pink.
However, the design of Vex’s new skin seems like Riot is just trying to paint the colors of the Sentinels on this champion without any other changes. While other Sentinel skins have somewhat altered the character’s appearance (Nidalee, Karma, Soraka, Riven), Vex’s new skin simply looks like the champion dyed her hair and put on a Sentinel outfit.

The League of Legends community has reacted very strongly to the images of Vex Sentinel. Most of the feedback has been quite negative.

However, some players admit that while Vex has a Sentinel skin, the shadow that follows her has colors more akin to Spirit skins. It’s possible that Vex will pave the way for the upcoming rival – Kayn’s Spirit skin.

Currently, additional information regarding Vex’s skin has yet to be released; however, for a champion that belongs to the Shadow/Darkness group like Vex, donning the Sentinel skin line is truly a highly controversial move from Riot. Nevertheless, this also gives players a quiet thrill as the beautifully designed Spirit/Sentinel skin line, which has long been neglected, now has the opportunity to make a comeback.
