As known, recently, Gen.G also released a clip announcing the roster of the reigning LCK champion for the next season. Accordingly, after about 2 years of building a “super team” centered around Peanut and Chovy, Gen.G will undergo a significant overhaul in the new season. The new names joining Gen.G include Kiin (Top Lane), Canyon (Jungle), and the reunion with Lehends (Support). The two core players retained are Chovy and Peyz. This is considered a new “super team”, even more perfect than any previous version of Gen.G.

However, even when Gen.G was just hinting at this roster, there were already many mixed opinions. According to the assessment from the well-known streamer and analyst in the League of Legends scene – LS, this is the best roster that Chovy has ever played with. However, even with that assessment, the streamer did not forget to emphasize: “How will these personalities mesh together?”.

After Gen.G officially announced the roster, Jankos also made a similar assessment, even expressing doubts about the success of the new “super team” of the LCK champions. Specifically, Jankos stated: “They are all great players, but they each have their own selfishness. I am curious about how they can play together.” Below Jankos’ post, many viewers shared similar concerns.

In reality, Canyon has experienced periods of playing the “supporting” role. However, this was also the time when the 2020 World Champion’s performance declined the most. When he played as a support but his teammates did not meet expectations, DK inadvertently wasted a quality core player. Meanwhile, Kiin could also be a strong core player, but despite years of playing, he still lacks a leader’s quality. As for Lehends, this player is strong in short calls, giving commands similar to Keria of T1.

Currently, none of the 5 Gen.G players have shown that they truly deserve the role of a leader. Therefore, for Gen.G to operate this roster effectively in the new season, it will definitely take a lot of time. Thus, it wouldn’t be surprising if they encounter difficulties in Spring 2024.
