On the evening of November 25, player Scout was spotted by Vietnamese League of Legends fans in Ho Chi Minh City for a vacation. This fan also shared that the Mid Laner, currently with LNG, is a cute and extremely friendly person. However, Scout’s vacation seems to have come to an end as he shared that he left Vietnam yesterday (November 26).

After a not-so-successful 2023 World Championship where he was eliminated by T1 in the quarter-finals, Scout’s trip was incredibly necessary. However, trouble seems to still be haunting this player as issues with his former team, EDward Gaming (EDG), have resurfaced. Just a few hours ago, Sohu’s news outlet in the LPL region reported that EDG is likely to win the lawsuit against Scout for breaching his contract.

The reason for this issue dates back to late 2021 (when EDG just won the World Championship) when the team raised salaries for its members. At that time, Scout decided to sign another contract with an LCK team while still under contract with EDG. By early 2023, he decided to take a pay cut to join LNG Esports. This led EDG to file a lawsuit against Scout for serious contract violation.

According to Sohu, EDG winning the lawsuit against Scout leaves this player with only 2 options. First, he must return to EDG and fulfill the remaining years of his contract. For someone like Scout, who previously took a pay cut to leave, he will definitely not choose this option. The second option is that Scout must pay a compensation amount equivalent to 2 – 3 years of salary.

At the beginning of 2023, Blix.gg revealed that S-tier players (those who have won the World Championship) like Scout have an annual compensation of 30 million CNY (approximately 102 billion VND). If the former World Champion from 2021 has to compensate based on this salary level, the amount he has to pay to EDG could reach 60 – 90 million CNY (approximately 204 – 306 billion VND). This is truly an enormous figure even for a top star in the LPL like Scout.

Regardless of which option he chooses, this situation will damage Scout’s image in the eyes of the audience significantly. Professionalism is incredibly important for a League of Legends player. Scout’s past breach of contract and signing with another LCK team while still under contract with EDG has disappointed many fans.
