Just 3 Years Ago, Crown Was Dominating Faker; Now the Former World Champion Has Been Cut by the Bottom Team in North America

Another fierce rival of Faker enters the decline of his career.

Recently, the Counter Logic Gaming team – the League of Legends team currently at the bottom of the LCS Spring 2020 standings, has officially parted ways with mid laner Lee “Crown” Min-ho after just over 3 months of association.

The underlying reason for this swift separation is believed to be Crown’s poor performance at this time. The Korean player has not been able to showcase the qualities that fans expected from him.

Crown being released by CLG once again proves that North America is not a favorable land for Korean League of Legends stars, as in reality, except for Impact, all superstars from the Land of the Morning Calm have had to struggle to find success in this region.

Crown’s case makes the fan community feel even more heartbroken. As one of the top mid lane superstars in Korea, Crown reached the pinnacle of his career with the 2017 League of Legends World Championship title alongside Samsung Galaxy (Gen.G Esports), after defeating Faker’s SKT T1 with a crushing score of 3-0.

But that is just a story from 3 years ago; currently, no one recognizes the elite mid laner he once was.

Crown officially parted ways with Gen.G Esports after a humiliating failure at the 2018 World Championship. However, since then, finding a new home has not improved this player’s career.

He had a relatively successful stint in early summer 2019, helping OpTic Gaming maintain a competitive playoff spot, but after that peak, Crown continued to plummet, even being demoted to the Academy roster.

At the end of the 2019 season, Crown transferred to Immortals, but just over a month later, he once again “switched jerseys” by joining Counter Logic Gaming.

Joining a historically significant LCS team seemed like it would be the motivation for Crown to regain his peak. However, the current quality of CLG’s roster is far inferior to the rest of the LCS, and their position at the bottom of the Spring 2020 tournament is the clearest proof.

As for Crown, the mark he left in CLG is essentially just a round zero; in fact, this team had to urgently seek out a “stopgap” signing in Pobelter to replace Crown before officially terminating the contract with the former Gen.G player.
