Recently, G2 Esports (G2) surprised many fans by announcing the departure of several players. Notably, among those leaving the “National Circus” is Jankos – the longest-serving player of G2. At the age of 27, Jankos seems to no longer be part of G2’s plans. Besides Jankos, players like Flakked and Targamas will also depart the team.

Jankos’s departure from G2 was only a matter of time as this jungle player has not maintained his peak performance in recent seasons. Many viewers even believe that Jankos should have left G2 at the start of the 2022 season. However, he and caPs were the two players retained after a series of roster changes. Jankos also had a stellar period during the 2022 season, but he and his teammates failed to make an impression at the World Championship (Worlds) 2022.

One challenge for Jankos is that at this time, he is considered too old, while most League of Legends teams worldwide are opting for a youth-focused roster. Even in regions like the LCS – known for favoring veteran players, younger talents like Jojopyun are being prioritized. In the LEC, opportunities for a player approaching 28 like Jankos are nearly nonexistent.

For this reason, during a recent livestream, Jankos was asked by fans about seeking opportunities in the LCS region. In response to this question, Jankos candidly shared: “I am considering opportunities with a team in the LCS. It’s tough to find a team in the LEC because most have already made agreements with players. I think I might find a team there (LCS)”. Notably, Jankos had previously denied the possibility of moving to North America to compete.

For an experienced player like Jankos, at this point, he likely understands that international titles are quite far-fetched. The LCS has always been a favored destination for older players, and this choice may be the best path for all parties, especially as the 2022 offseason transfer market approaches rapidly.
