Nametags are one of the fascinating features of the game CS:GO as they allow players to customize the name of a skin as they wish, and pro players are no exception. Let’s take a look at some interesting names and the meanings behind them!

1. kennyS with the AWP “Magic Stick”

As one of the greatest AWP-ers of all time, it’s no surprise that he chose to name his favorite weapon. Throughout his peak period, kennyS used the AWP Asiimov skin named “Magic Stick,” perfectly describing his lightning-fast flick shots. This AWP became even more well-known after the very famous meme video below.

2. Hiko with the P2000 “Inhuman Reaction”

Hiko is one of the early players of the CS scene in North America, and throughout his 9-year career, he has played for many prestigious teams such as Cloud9, iBUYPOWER, and Team Liquid. Hiko is widely known for his highlight “Inhuman Reaction” at ESL One Cologne 2014. After this legendary play, he named his P2000 “GeT_RiGhT Slayer” to commemorate the moment.

3. Happy with the DE “TEAM SOLO REKT”

Mentioning Happy certainly brings to mind his ACE with the legendary DE. Specifically, in the match against TSM at DreamHack Open London 2015, Happy achieved an unbelievable 5-kill through smoke. In a poll held at the beginning of 2020 with over 80,000 votes, this highlight was awarded as the best play of the decade.

4. Coldzera with the AWP “Jumpingzera”

Recognized as one of the greatest players of all time, throughout his professional career Coldzera has made a name for himself with numerous memorable highlights, the most notable being his jumping AWP shot in a match against Team Liquid. Trailing 15-9, Coldzera shone in the most critical moment, eliminating 4 opponents with the AWP and stopping Team Liquid’s B push, including an incredibly difficult jumping shot. Boosted by this highlight, Coldzera and his teammates made an incredible comeback, winning 10 consecutive rounds to secure victory.

5. Stewie2k with the P250 “But look at the time”

Known as one of the most successful players in the North American CS scene, Stewie2k made history as a member of the legendary Cloud9 lineup that won the ELEAGUE Boston Major. In a thrilling final against FaZe Clan, he etched his name into history with a legendary bombsite B hold that thwarted FaZe Clan’s efforts to plant the C4, leading the map into fateful overtime rounds and ultimately winning 22-19 to become champions.

To commemorate this achievement, Stewie named his P250 “But look at the time,” referencing the famous casting line by caster James Bardolph in the aforementioned highlight. This phrase was also honored by Valve by including it in the description of the P250 Inferno skin celebrating the 20th anniversary of CS.

Apart from the names mentioned above, there are many other interesting names that pro players have given to their favorite skins, such as Pasha with the Karambit Fade skin “mortal2k” (a famous figure for his massive donations to Twitch streamers, including a $15,000 gift to Pasha during a stream) or JW with the Sawed-Off | The Kraken featuring the nametag “Release the JW” (a reference to a famous line in the movie Clash of the Titans),…
