Not long after reaching the top 10 Challenger in the Korean League of Legends server, SofM continues to prove his try-hard capability with an additional streak of 11 ranked matches just on the evening of July 19.
After just 10 matches with 8 wins and only 2 losses, SofM has officially conquered a new milestone, simultaneously matching his personal record set last year by entering the top 5 Challenger in the Korean server. It’s quite unfortunate for SofM that in his 11th match, he and his team suffered a comprehensive defeat, losing the chance to increase the lead over the chasing pack behind.

Currently, the gap between SofM and the player holding the top 1 Challenger position is 180 points, a gap that is not too far but still very difficult to conquer. Besides the fiercely competitive environment in the Korean server, professional players often have their rank climbing interrupted due to training and competition schedules.
With his current form, many fans are eagerly hoping that SofM will become the next LPL player and the first Vietnamese player to conquer the top 1 Challenger in the Korean server. In his last 20 matches, Duy Cau Giay boasts an impressive win rate of 80%.

However, SofM’s journey to rank 1 may have to pause, and his position in the top 5 will be hard to maintain, as tomorrow, July 21, Suning will face LNG Esports, followed by a match against FPX on July 23.
Both matches are of immense importance; if they achieve good results against these opponents, SN can think about competing for a spot at the World Championship. Therefore, SofM will certainly have to temporarily stop try-harding with a pace of over 10 matches a day to focus on preparing for these two major battles.

Of course, the fan community is extremely hopeful for a miraculous scenario where SofM becomes the first Vietnamese player to conquer the top 1 Challenger in Korea, but his potential participation in the 2021 World Championship is even more important for both SofM personally and his admirers. Thus, if SofM “drops rank” in the coming days, it wouldn’t be surprising at all.
