DWG KIA entered the MSI 2021 tournament after winning the 2020 World Championship and the LCK Spring 2021 Championship as a top contender for the title. During the group stage, they lived up to the fans’ expectations by being one of the two teams that maintained an unbeaten record (the other team being Royal Never Give Up, representing the LPL region).

During this time, the DK players also took the opportunity to rank up on the European server, and for them, this was a completely new experience. Recently, in a sharing session, Ghost, the ADC of the reigning champion, expressed his feelings about the tournament as well as the League of Legends scene in Europe. Notably, the player’s comments about the competitive attitude of gamers in the LEC region stood out.
Ghost expressed that he and his teammates were very surprised that European gamers never surrender early when ranking. This was confirmed by ShowMaker, Ghost’s teammate at DK, who added that aside from their unyielding spirit, players on the European server can also be quite toxic.

The exact words of Ghost were: “Basically, we already know everything about our opponents at the Challenger rank. When we reach a point where we know we cannot win against our opponents because they are better players, we usually accept to surrender.”
Ghost stated that this is an advantage that players from other regions should learn from the European server.
In professional Esports matches across all genres, there have been numerous “comebacks,” where many teams were trailing significantly in kills, economy, and structures. Specifically in the VCS region, one of the most spectacular comebacks was performed by CERBERUS Esports in game 2 of their match against Saigon Buffalo during the VCS Spring 2021.
