A T1 player is almost certain to lose his spot in the ASIAD after Gen.G’s victory
Recently, Gen.G officially won the LCK Cup 2026, securing the number one seed from the LCK region to participate in the First Stand 2026. Not only that, player Canyon also earned an FMVP of the grand finals, thanks to his outstanding performance in all three matches. It was Canyon’s performance that prevented BNK’s Raptor from executing their usual play style for the “Foxes”. However, this achievement by Canyon has further lowered Oner’s chances of participating in the ASIAD to almost “rock bottom”.

Indeed, the LCK Cup 2026 finals showcased a Canyon who was in almost absolute stable form while representing Gen.G. Moreover, the current reigning LCK champions’ journey has left a very clear mark from Canyon, who is also one of the most consistently performing players throughout the Gen.G lineup.
On the other hand, Oner has not shown a truly good performance. During the group stage, Oner collaborated very well with Faker, creating a strong mid-jungle duo for T1. However, since T1 entered the playoffs, Oner’s form has plummeted. The peak of this was the two consecutive losses against BNK and DK, both stemming from Oner’s failed Smite situations against Raptor and Lucid.

In the context of the ASIAD not limiting the number of players from a team selected for the national team, it is very likely that all members of Gen.G will be chosen. The only competition may be for the Support or ADC positions, as Viper in the LPL is still performing well. Therefore, Oner’s chances of participating are becoming significantly lower with Canyon performing so well.

Oner and T1 Can Only Blame Themselves
Clearly, during the KeSPA Cup 2025 and subsequently the LCK Cup 2026, T1 showed a very strong face. In fact, they were the only team alongside Gen.G to remain undefeated after the group stage. However, it is also T1, particularly Oner, who performed poorly during the playoffs. They had opportunities and did not seize them, so they can only blame themselves.
