Gen.G Drops a Hint but Quickly Deletes It, Only to Be Caught in a “Suspicious Point”
After another year empty-handed at the Worlds stage, it’s clear that Gen.G cannot be happy. This team has invested heavily to recruit top superstars in every position of the current League of Legends scene (Kiin, Canyon, Lehends) to join Chovy and Peyz. But what do the LCK Spring 2024 championship or MSI afterwards mean when Gen.G has gone empty-handed in three consecutive tournaments (EWC 2024, LCK Summer 2024, and Worlds 2024)?

With such evident issues, while the LCK has salary caps and Gen.G cannot generate revenue like T1, it’s clear that this team must consider their options. In a recent move, Gen.G posted a message saying: “I miss him” and recently, “they are still our lineup this year.” The post from Gen.G included a photo of the whole team, but fans quickly noticed a suspicious detail. While Canyon – Kiin and Peyz – Lehends both have individual photos with each other posted separately, Chovy has no standalone photo at all.

Will Gen.G Make Major Changes to the Roster?
There are several theories regarding this incident. First, the other four players will stay while Chovy leaves. Next, Gen.G might only keep Chovy and part ways with the other four superstars. Of course, in any scenario, it is evident: Gen.G could be significantly weaker next season. Chovy is one of the top five mid-laners in the LCK right now. It will be difficult to find someone capable of replacing this player, as the remaining superstars have almost certainly secured their own teams.

Conversely, Chovy himself will face challenges as his current teammates can be considered the best players that Gen.G could find for their mid-lane. Alongside Canyon, the only other options are Oner and Peanut. However, Peanut is a former teammate of Chovy and has yet to help him win an international title. Meanwhile, it is unlikely that Oner will leave T1. In the top lane, only Zeus is better than Kiin, and recruiting a superstar born in 2004 is not easy at all.

For the AD carry position, Gen.G might look to Ruler but will face competition from KT as well as challenges from salary caps. And the support must also be skilled players. But how will Gen.G recruit Delight, Keria, or BeryL remains a big question.
Gen.G will undergo significant changes in the new season. And regardless of what the future holds, the former LCK champions will face many challenges and may lose their nearly absolute standing in recent times.
