Yesterday – July 30, the highlight match of LCK Summer 2022 between Gen.G and T1 officially took place. It seemed like it would be a tense battle, and victory would belong to T1 as in previous encounters, but this time Gen.G played extraordinarily well and defeated their opponent with a score of 2-0.

An interesting point is that in both games, T1 consistently organized attacks on Doran’s position, whether he played Assassins (Akali) or tanks (Gnar). However, according to Chovy’s post-match comments, T1’s aggressive attempts were completely useless as Doran often got taken down after accumulating a lot of gold from minions or when there were no major objectives available. This playstyle from T1 inadvertently caused them difficulties as Gen.G had a very strong Ruler entering the late game.

Question: How could you come back in Game 1 after being so far behind?
Gen.G Chovy: Indeed, Doran’s Akali was targeted quite a lot when T1 actively attacked him. However, Doran only went down after gaining many resources from the minion wave or at a time when there were no major objectives. Therefore, T1’s aggressive attempts became useless, and the gap between us and them did not widen.
Question: Your personal win rate against Faker is quite low, does that affect you?
Gen.G Chovy: League of Legends is a 5v5 game, and my low win rate against Faker is because I lose to his whole team. Faker is a great player, so when playing in the same position, I can feel “overwhelmed” by his shadow. Losing to Faker too many times in the past motivates me to strive for victory.
According to information from the LCK tournament itself, since the summer season of 2021 until now, Gen.G had lost to T1 in 7 consecutive matches. The recent victory of Gen.G over T1 has officially ended this poor streak, helping Chovy and his teammates secure the top position in the LCK Summer 2022 standings.

Besides the score issue, this victory also shows that Gen.G is indeed stronger than T1 at this moment. With the LCK Summer 2022 gradually approaching its conclusion, the recent win will boost Gen.G’s confidence in defeating T1 once again to claim the championship title.
As for T1, the issues became quite clear after the loss to Gen.G regarding the Bottom Lane position of Gumayusi and Keria. This ADC-Support duo of T1 can now lane extremely well, but their positioning in team fights is truly problematic. If T1 wants to compete for the LCK Summer 2022 title and further aim for the 2022 World Championship, they need to improve this quickly.
