Post from GAM’s COO
As we know, in 2025, the VCS region will witness many changes, one of which is Riot’s decision to merge with regions like PCS, LJL… to create a unified APAC region for all smaller regions and wildcard teams in Asian League of Legends (excluding LPL – LCK). This move is seen as a reasonable strategy by Riot to enhance competition while allowing them to allocate investment budgets to regions in League of Legends that truly have potential. In the VCS, GAM Esports is viewed as the team that will retain its APAC spot. There is even information suggesting that one of Riot’s Partner slots in APAC will be reserved for this team.

Thus, this means that starting in 2025, audiences will have a hard time seeing GAM “in the flesh” at VCS tournaments. This is because the team will have to relocate to Taipei to train for the APAC regional competition. To further clarify this, recently, GAM’s COO, Mr. Izumin, posted a message stating that the gaming house will be vacant and the team is expressing interest in investing in an AOV or VALORANT team.

Has GAM Been Approved for a Partner Slot?
In reality, if GAM registers for Riot’s Partner slot in the APAC region, it is unlikely that this slot would fall into other teams’ hands. However, neither the team nor Riot has made any announcements regarding whether this team has been approved. Meanwhile, if the APAC still has a promotion-relegation system and there are no guarantees of always being undefeated while competing here, especially in some future scenarios when Levi is no longer playing.
Therefore, it is possible that GAM has indeed been approved for Riot’s Partner slot, which is why the team has decided to move the entire roster to Taipei and may stay there for a long time, at least until Riot continues to hold the APAC spot for GAM and the team can also secure its competitive rights here. At the same time, Riot has no intention of relocating the APAC competition to another location.

Moreover, in the context where VCS still lacks an official studio or competition venue, GAM can fully participate in VCS matches online. Thus, GAM can still meet its competitive conditions in Vietnamese League of Legends as it has done before.
