Former World Champion Receives Extremely Bad News
Recently, LPL media reported that Scout has lost a lawsuit that has dragged on since the end of 2023 against his former team, Edward Gaming. Once a place that nurtured him and helped Scout reach the pinnacle of glory in 2021, contractual issues and conflicts led the former World Champion to part ways. However, he subsequently found himself embroiled in a lengthy lawsuit, and according to information from LPL media, Scout has lost the case and must pay a compensation amounting to 33 million CNY (approximately over 120 billion VND).

Specifically, Scout is required to reimburse signing fees and bonuses totaling over 4 million CNY, as well as compensate for losses from breaching the contract amounting to over 10 million CNY. Additionally, the player must also pay the outstanding salary of 18 million CNY. According to some explanations, the outstanding salary stems from Scout having drawn salary in advance but unilaterally terminating the contract, thus leaving this amount unpaid.
Moreover, these are just the significant amounts in this lawsuit. Besides that, Scout will also have to cover court costs (since the case has gone to trial), late payment fees… according to Chinese law. It can be said that the total amount Scout has to pay could reach around 40 million CNY, which is entirely possible.

No One Knows If This Will Be Pressure or Motivation for the Former World Champion
In fact, this amount is quite large but not out of Scout’s salary range. Of course, he will still have to grind hard for a long time, but currently, the former World Champion is still competing for a top team (JDG). If he performs well, perhaps this debt will be settled in about 2 seasons or more.

The saying “having debts can be a motivation to work harder” is often joked as a positive perspective on being in debt. But in Scout’s case, no one knows if this will be motivation or pressure for him, especially when the former World Champion has had a rather unsatisfactory start to 2025 and has lost his spot for the upcoming MSI.
