Former World Champion Turns into a “Joke” When Announcing Comeback
During the recent transfer window in the LPL, TheShy’s return after a year of rest attracted a lot of attention from the community. In fact, upon returning and competing for IG at the Demacia Cup 2024, TheShy also showcased several positive performances. Not to be outdone by his colleague, another former world champion named Doinb recently boldly declared on a live stream that he would make a “strong comeback” in the upcoming season.

“This time it’s real, I will return to compete in the LPL in the upcoming 2025 season. I even have a photo shoot scheduled with the new team for them to create content, preparing for my return tomorrow. Rest assured, my new team is very strong and has a fair chance to compete with all opponents in the LPL. When there’s an official announcement, everyone will know,” Doinb confidently shared on the live stream.

Right after Doinb shared this information, many viewers pointed out that NiP would be his new destination. This is due to the fact that NiP recently unexpectedly followed Doinb on Weibo and posted a birthday greeting for him. However, this return of the 2019 world champion has become a “joke” to the LPL audience as Doinb himself has recently had disappointing performances. Specifically, many viewers sarcastically commented that someone who performed poorly in the “Old Man’s Cup” like Doinb would have no hope of returning to the LPL.

The “Stormy” Return of the Former World Champion
It is worth noting that after the official announcements from NiP, the official mid-laner for this team will be a player named Neny. Therefore, even if Doinb joins NiP, he is likely to only serve as a substitute in the upcoming season. Moreover, right upon his return, Doinb and NiP will face significant challenges in the group stage of LPL Split 1 2025 as they are in the same group as the “super team” IG. Additionally, other teams like FPX and RNG are also very formidable opponents that could easily defeat NiP.

Therefore, Doinb’s return in the upcoming season in the colors of NiP (if it happens) does not seem to be smooth at all. Essentially, NiP has only been an average team in the LPL (top 5-8) in recent years and cannot compete for titles against stronger opponents. Clearly, Doinb and the NiP team will have to make significant efforts in the upcoming season to increase their competitiveness and aim for goals like top 4 or the LPL title. Otherwise, NiP is likely to continue with its top 5-8 position while Doinb’s return remains a “joke” to the community.
